NIGHT AHEAD

Support

Help, from the people who built it.

Night Ahead is made by a small team that answers its own mail. Below are the questions we get most — and if yours isn't here, write to us and a real person will reply.

Reporting from inside the app

Open Settings in Night Ahead and tap Report a Bug. It sends the details we need — your app version and what the forecast actually showed — so we don't have to ask.

Common questions

Location and permissions

Night Ahead needs your location to know which sky is yours — the clouds overhead, how far the nearest dark-sky spot is, and when the moon sets where you are. If forecasts look wrong or empty, open iOS Settings › Night Ahead › Location and choose While Using the App. Nothing is shared with advertisers, and you can revoke it any time without losing your journal.

Alerts arrive late, or not at all

Alerts are the point of the app, so when they go quiet it's usually one of three things: notifications are off in iOS Settings › Night Ahead › Notifications, Focus or Do Not Disturb is filtering them, or Low Power Mode is deferring background refresh. Turn all three the right way round and the next good night will find you.

The forecast looks wrong

The Sky Score blends cloud cover, moon brightness, light pollution, and driving distance — so a clear night can still score low if the moon is full, and that's working as intended. Forecasts get noticeably less certain past about a week out. If a score looks genuinely broken for your area, send us the place and the date and we'll look at the same data you saw.

Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Night Ahead subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us — so cancellations, restores, and refunds all run through your Apple Account. To cancel: iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Night Ahead › Cancel. To restore a subscription on a new device, open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com; we can't issue them on Apple's behalf, but tell us what went wrong and we'll help you make the case.

Deleting your data

Open Settings inside the app and choose Delete Account. That removes your saved spots, journal entries, and photos from our systems. If you can't get into the app, email us from the address on the account and we'll do it for you — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what we hold and how long we hold it.

Journal and saved spots

Entries and photos sync to your account so a lost phone doesn't cost you a season of observing. If something is missing after reinstalling, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account, then pull down to refresh the journal before assuming it's gone — and tell us if it still is.

Still stuck?

Tell us what the sky was doing.

Send the place, the date, and what you expected to see. That's almost always enough for us to reproduce it — and we'll write back either way.
